The iconic Chichester Festival Theatre in West Sussex has joined a growing list of public buildings fitting the revolutionary RoomMate® in two of its accessible toilet facilities. The RoomMate® provides an audio description of ‘away from home’ toilets for Visually Impaired visitors who would normally rely on a carer, giving them much greater independence and dignity.

Over two million people in the UK have a visual impairment, and employment opportunities for this huge cohort are still woefully inadequate. Last month my Daughter, Daisy 10, was selected to represent Team GB in the Laser run World Championships being held in Dublin on 28th September. After the initial excitement had worn off we realised that it would not be a cheap trip so we set up a Just Giving crowdfunding page and started raising the money.
A recent post about discrimination by disability groups themselves caught our eye as it included a link to a court decision from 2014 where a group of disabled theatre goers were charged double for the opportunity to see Bill Bailey. Why double? Read on..
In my lifetime technology has ripped apart many of the absolutes that I was taught at school and subsequently grew up with.
The Queen Alexandra College organises exhibitions that showcase technology and currently run both the Sight Village & Autism Central. Believe it or not I think it starts when we’re kids. Remember when your parents asked/told/ordered (delete where appropriate) you to do something that you weren’t really a fan of, or couldn’t see the point of? It got done, eventually, but probably not very well, or quickly and only because of the threat of some sanction or restriction of liberty by the our parents. So fast forward to the here and now and not much will have changed for many of us.
Spring has sprung and with it comes our latest offering of our news; where and who have been fitting RoomMates including a number of new 'Firsts' which are very exciting. We hope you enjoy and remember, to see how RoomMates are spreading across the UK have a look at our map 'Find A RoomMate'.
I don't know about you but we seem to be constantly getting contacted by social media gurus trying to sell us their services. Most would have us believe that in this age of digital media, where much of our news is found via the internet, that distributing our company’s news via social media alone is all we need to do to reach our audience.
